Screenshot ReviewR (proof of concept version)

“ReviewR” is the name of a new Adobe Flex based AIR application that showcases a simple solution for getting feedback on your website designs.

For now, the concept is still in it’s early stages, with a fully functional “proof of concept” versionĀ  available around January 2009 for people that are interested in the concept and/or like to contribute to the final feature set of future ReviewR versions.

Coldfusion fridge magnets

Fridge Magnets

This is an example of a New Year’s card application (some 2 years old) but still something I would like to include in my portfolio. Not just because it was a fun project (the message you can send to your friend is made by typing and shuffling letters on the fridge) but also because this is one of the few occassions I had the opportunity to work with Coldfusion.

CodeIgniter minisite

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

A while ago in 2007 Duval Guillaume made this bilingual mini-site for their client Dexia. And me, I got the chance to try out a PHP framework called CodeIgniter. What’s so special about it? Well… this was the first time I chose to work with CodeIgniter and I’ve been in love ever since.

Graphs CAN be fun

Monday, January 14th, 2008

QualityIndex

For Happiness Brussels i helped with a dynamic mailing that required a personalised score to be shown in every mail.

Two graphs were included in the mail and actually it was *fun* to create the system that generated the personalised graphs for each mail. Oops… does that make me sound too much like a geek?

I ended up making separate classes for the LCD screen and the graph itself, so it was easy to change the graphs if necessary.

No, from now on graphs don’t scare me anymore :)

Maps and me

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Somehow i have a special connection with maps. Maybe it’s because i like to travel and explore. Even when sitting behind my pc in a small room i wanna get the feeling that ‘there is more out there’. And working on maps is one way to convince you of that :-)

These are two examples of map applications in Flash i made for Duval Guillaume. What’s interesting about these is that both have a Flash to Javascript connection so the Flash movie could communicate with the html page it was in.

Vlaanderen Vakantieland map

A simplified version of that map can still be found on the Vlaanderen vakantieland site.

The second example was made for the Weekendesk.be website. It’s part of a search engine where you can select several items on the page (including the country and place on the map) to select possible destinations:

Campaign for “Tiense Suiker”

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

A small minisite that i-Merge made for Tiense Suiker. It got a nice ‘cup shuffling’ routine where you had to guess under which cup lay the sugar cube.

Tiense Suiker

I helped with the shuffling game and some of the finishing touches (like the registration pages at the end)

The minisite is no longer online now (was part of a campaign)

The healthy discoveries of Dr X Periment

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

ActiveIdea (now Wanabe) made this flash minisite full of animations for Danone…

Healthy discoveries

My own part consisted mostly of supervising and putting the (technical) finishing touch to it. It’s no longer available online now, but there’s a CD-version of the minisite.

Polonaise game

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

This is already a golden oldie but it still proves popular - in fact if i Google my own name this one still comes up in the top results hehehe…

Polonaise

Does it look familiar? Hmm.. yes, in fact the idea is based on an even older classic game: worm.

It was made for i-Merge (now called Boondoggle) and i took care of all the Flash programming.

Give yourself a few minutes off and play this addictive little game:

Make a friend feel sunny

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Another fine project for Duval Guillaume. I helped with the PHP part (connection to the database, contest) and some technical bits of the photo upload module.

I especially like how the videos are seamlessly connected into one single episode. (Well done, Sander!)

Free VAT Calculator widget

CreOFF VAT Calculator

An ex-colleague at Duval Guillaume gave me the idea for this Yahoo Widget. Like any freelancer he often had to calculate price offers and was constantly trying to remember the formula to calculate prices with or without VAT.

About a month later this widget was ready. It’s simple but useful -and what’s more: it’s FREE- so if you have the Yahoo Widget system installed just download the widget from my site and enjoy!
